Janet Gardner, frontlady of Vixen, has undergone surgery to remove blood clots in her brain, a condition known as a subdural hematoma.

Subdural hematomas result from bleeding on the surface of the brain, and are most often due to a serious fall or head injury. The condition can be very serious, as blood filling up the space around the brain can put pressure on vital brain tissue. The severity of a subdural hematoma depends on how extreme and rapid the bleeding is.

Janet played a successful show with her solo band at the Whisky A Go-Go in West Holywood, California, last Thursday, 11th January, and was rushed to hospital the following day where she had a hole drilled into her skull to relieve the hematoma. A titanium plate was used to cover the hole.

Janet made the following Facebook post on Saturday night:

The tour is in support of Janet's self-titled debut solo album, which was released last August via Pavement Entertainment. The album is a collaboration between Janet and her husband, guitarist/producer Justin James, who has previously worked with Tyketto.
