Manowar found themselves fighting the world this weekend as they kicked off the first leg of the Kings Of Metal MMXIV World Tour.
The opening gig was due to be held in The Royal Oak Theatre in Detroit but late in the day the promoter cancelled the show for reasons that are still being looked into.
The band, with the help of the Chicago promoters, made sure that fans from Detroit got to Chicago and they arrived in large numbers, just as the roof of the Concord Music Hall venue caved in meaning there was no way Saturday's gig was going ahead.

Joey DeMaio somehow managed to organise an alternative venue. This was an extraordinary feat and the Manowar crew worked like trojans to make sure the show went ahead.
Trouble is, with so many fans turning up from Detroit there wasn't enough capacity in the new venue and some fans got turned away. The band have issued a statement about this which you can read below.
Sunday's performance in Minneapolis went ahead without any problems and the band now have three days downtime before resuming the tour in Atlanta on Thursday.
Here's the band's statement about fans being turned away from the Chicago show:
"We are sorry for those Manowarriors who made the trip from Detroit yesterday, but could not get into the show last night.
"We were not the promoters of these shows and therefore had no control over the events. We had asked the promoters in Chicago to support us in helping our fans from Detroit and they agreed, for which we applaud them.
"Due to the unforeseeable issues at Concord Music Hall a move to a smaller venue at shortest notice required some changes and made it impossible for the promoters to let everybody in as planned.
"We are glad a solution could be found on such short notice to play the show last night. We are very sorry that it was not possible for some of you to get in.
"Those who had a ticket for Detroit and could not get into the Chicago show, please send an email to email@example.com with subject line 'Detroit SOS.' You will be contacted ASAP.
"Thank you for your faith and loyalty!
"Those with tickets for the Chicago show who could not get in, please contact the promoter of the show, Riot Fest. Also: MANOWAR will return to Chicago on Nov, 15. More details will follow."
Despite the difficulties the band received plaudits for the Chicago performance with Facebook likes increasing by thousands overnight. Here's a selection of some of the comments the band received:
What an amazing show that was, MANOWAR! Finally getting to experience Kings of Metal Live - it was the very first metal album I listen to as a kid and it introduced me to the glory of metal. Being able to see this with my dad as my personal way of thanking me for raising me to good music was amazing. As a Bulgarian fan I also truly appreciate your inclusion of my nation's flag on your covers and the videos - it really shows that you care for all of your fans.
Joey DeMaio's speech was legendary.
The tribute display during "Heart of Steel" (MY FAVORITE SONG!) made me cry.
Congrats to band, road crew & office for getting so gracefully through such solicitating day, and beating all odds with this show Wishing you swift & powerful sailing through rest of US dates!
I can't begin to tell you how much that concert meant to my family and I! The upset to my boys when they heard Royal Oak was cancelled only to be completely redeemed in Chicago!
"My sons stood proud in the front row watching as you guys made sure they knew you saw them. Thank you so much for handing the boys the drumsticks.
"On top of the huge bag of swag, this was the absolute most amazing time! November 15th is the boys birthday! Ugh! What is a father to do?
Thanks again brothers!
Hail and Kill!!!
