With the release in 2011 of their breakthrough album 'Pressure and Time', Rival Sons announced themselves as one of the great new American rock bands. A love affair with Europe and the UK in particular were cemented by repeated live visits that led to sold tours and prestigious festival appearances.

In 2012, with the release of 'Head Down', the band were award the 'Breakthrough Artist' award at the Classic Rock Awards. The Guardian have described Rival Sons' sound as 'sunkissed psychedelia and irresistible hooks, with the band's soul, funk and blues influences thrust joyously to the fore.'

'Great Western Valkyrie' was produced by the band's long time collaborator Dave Cobb at LCS Studios in Nashville, Tennessee. Rival Sons were joined by new bassist Dave Beste, with the album written and recorded in the improvisational style used for their previous releases.

The album has already produced the hit singles 'Electric Man' and 'Open My Eyes', and is one of the most highly anticipated rock releases of the year. The BBC stated Rival Sons are 'fizzing with freshness' - a claim they look certain to live up to with the new album.
