"This had nothing to do with last night...this was living and being born and coming for your fucking children in the middle of the night right in front of you...there was never a yesterday...From then on, rock 'n roll could never be anything less to me. Whatever I did - whether I was writing, or playing - there was blood on the pages, there was blood on the strings, because anything less than that was just bullshit, and a waste of fucking time."
Scott Kempner (former guitarist of the Dictators)

"But an idea, a value, a mere spark; always survives..."

"The mind does interesting things under extreme stress. Hallucination, displacement, retreat...Learn to use them all, not as blind reactions to adversity, but as moves in a game..."
Richard Morgan (Altered Carbon)

In some way we're all fucking damaged; broken.

It ain't a bad thing...Something's broken, can be fixed. Damage can be mended. Wounds can be healed...

What a fuckin' night...If you're gonna do it, do it with style...Blood, sweat, tears and rock 'n fuckin' roll...

The Intrepid Fox salutes YOU...any who came down for our last night at St Giles; any who head-banged their way into the rock 'n roll history books; the bar-divers who broke themselves on ceilings and floors; any who raised their glass to the end of another chapter in the were all fuckin' fantastic, guys 'n gals...

A heartfelt thanks to all involved in a magical, quirky and unique weekend. Our loyal regulars; those who partied with us. The bands who rocked us; the dj's who rolled us. The roadies, sound-engineers, bar-staff and security: The Living Dead Crew. Those who worked tirelessly throughout the weekend, to help us through a difficult time for all. Those who lifted and carried, made sure our artwork and decorations were stored safe. Such over-whelming support. So much emotion. So much love...

So where do we go now...?

When you burn your bridges: you build new ones. When you don't like the rules where you are: you go someplace else and make up your own. It's a story repeated throughout history.

Sure, we miss Soho: the hookers and their 'johns'; the market boys; the musicians who keep the spirit of rock 'n roll a living and breathing entity; the artists who commemorate the past and present in vivid imagery; the poets who pour their souls onto the page...

But the West-End is dead to us now...

So shall we let the pit-bull off the leash? Fuck, yeah...

THE INTREPID FOX is proud to announce we are holding an "EASTER WEEKEND RESURRECTION PARTY", 18-20th April, 2014. The venue: "ARCHWAY TAVERN", (formerly known as Dusk 'til Dawn), 1 Archway Close, London, N19 3TD.

So roll up, roll up, for the 'Greatest Show on Earth'...Expect fire-breathers, snake-charmers, dwarfs 'n bearded ladies...!!! Contortionists 'n jugglers...!!! The circus is back in town, motherfuckers...and it's a big, bad, fuckin' rock 'n rolling machine...!!! But enough of that nonsense...

Friday 18th: as it was in the end, so shall it be in the beginning. The awesome FOUR WHEEL DRIVE will be playing two sets crossing over midnight...Doors open at 7pm and admission is free with 'Fox loyalty cards', £3 for all others. We close at 4am and it's gonna be fuckin' crazy, so make sure to arrive early.

Saturday 19th: in association with the crew who bring you VOODOO ROCK & PROJECT MAYHEM, we give you THE first Saturday night Rock Club of it's kind since SIN. From the ashes, club "PHOENIX RISING"...two rooms of fuckin' metal mayhem. One floor dedicated to Metal/Nu-Metal/Pop Punk; one floor playing the best in Hard-Rock, Metal 'n Punk. Admission is free for Fox regulars; for the £3 guest-list, please write your name on the events wall on Facebook. It's £5 for all others and we're open 'til 4am; what can I say...?: miss it at your peril, fuckers...

After that, I reckon Sunday 20th could well be a complete fuckin' debacle (in the nicest possible way). Come down and check out if we're all still alive; we have no plans, as yet, above fucking breathing...but, as always, Mr Punch aims to entertain...

This is the first statement on the future of The Intrepid Fox: keep checking, and here on Facebook, for news; we ask our many friends out there to please share.
Leaving you, as always, with the words of another...

Wacken Winter Nights 2018 takes place between February 23rd and 25th 2018 and the great news is that you can now experience a full-on, top class German Metal Festival easily and affordably.

It only takes an hour to fly to Hamburg from London and we've had longer journeys than that within the capital and they were certainly more expensive than the £33 air ticket that just appeared in our 'flights to Wacken Winter Nights' search.

Wacken Winter Nights is organised by the same team who are responsible for the world's greatest Metal festival, Wacken-Open-Air and the 2018 bill includes Skyclad, Orphaned Land, Elvenking, Finntroll, Grave Digger, Aeverium, Comes Vagantes, Coppelius, Corvus Corax, Die Pressgëng, Elvellon, Heimataerde, Hell-O-Matic, Ignis Fatuu, Ingrimm, Irdorath, Johnny Deathshadow, Krayenzeit, Letzte Instanz, Mr Hurley und die Pulveraffen, Pampatut, Pat Razket, Schandmaul, Sündenrausch, The Aberlour's, The Moon And The Nightspirit, Torfrock, Visions Of Atlantis, Vroudenspil, Wind Rose and more.

Besides this rich billing of superb Metal bands, there is so much more to see in the festival area including the medieval market and also the walking acts and jugglers you will meet at the theme worlds, including Robert Blake, three-time World Cup winner of street magic.

Wacken Winter Nights is something not to be missed and you can check out the amazing ticket and accommodation prices right here.

We just priced up the whole four day trip with hotels, flights, shuttles and festival tickets for less than £300 and we don't think you will get a better value festival than that, anywhere.

MetalTalk recently sat down with Wacken founder and owner Thomas Jensen and that interview will be online next week and it's a fascinating insight into how Wacken originated from nothing to become the world's premiere Heavy Metal event.

Wacken 2018 takes place from 2nd to 4th August 20218 and as with Wacken Winter Nights, if you have never experienced all it has to offer, then you owe it to yourself to remedy that.

Already announced for Wacken 2018 are Judas Priest, Nightwish, Running Wild (exclusive), Arch Enemy, Dirkschneider, Doro (Special Anniversary Show), In Extremo, Sepultura, Amorphis, Amaranthe, Firewind, W.A.R., Belphegor, Mantar, Knorkator, Deserted Fear, Watain, Night Demon, Epica, Knorkator, Belphegor, Firewind, Deserted Fear and many more and we'll have more Wacken 2018 announcements during December.

As well as being the greatest Heavy Metal festival in the world, it is without a doubt the Mecca of Metal and the one thing that every single person who loves our music should have on their bucket list.

For 2018, MetalTalk have joined forces with Wacken-Open-Air to help you get to Wacken easily and inexpensively and you can peruse the ticket and travel options right here.
