Much better news came as Chris's wife Jane made the following statement on his Facebook page:
"Hello, Chris is now completely discharged from Intensive Care and being looked after brilliantly in our local hospital. He has no internet access but we are keeping him up to date with all your messages and all the nice things that have been written about him. He is loving it!"
This was followed up with:
"He is enjoying being looked after by lots of lovely kind ladies. More than he gets at home!"
While the road to recovery may still be long, this is fantastic news and brings lots of hope for the future.
MetalTalk's thoughts remain with Chris and his family and we wish him all the best for a full and speedy recovery.
