In an interview this month with The Today Show, Australia Richie admitted he is as surprised as anyone else that he didn't rejoin his band after the break between the first and second legs of the tour.
He says: "Honestly, I went out for the first leg of the tour, I had no idea this was going to happen."
There has been so much speculation over Richie's ongoing absence with gossip focusing on money issues, inter-band relationship tensions and JBJ's own position that Richie had relapsed with his addictions recovery.

However, Richie has now been able to bring understanding back to a much more simple position; he missed his family when out on the road.
"I just started spending time with my kid, and my spirit wouldn't pull myself out the door. I just needed to be home," he said. "I thought maybe we should have took more time between the last tour and this tour," he added.
Richie confirmed he does anticipate rejoining his colleagues in Bon Jovi: "I think so, yeah, I'm pretty sure," he said. "I don't think it's going to be the end of the band or anything like that."
Despite not being on the tour Richie has been productive and successful with two solo releases, 'Come Back As Me' and 'Engine 19', over the summer.
So, is the storm over and will Richie be back with Bon Jovi? Let's hope so.
