||JOIN THUNDER AND THE UNION ON THE CHILDLINE ROCKS USA BIKE RIDE
2nd May 2012
Following on from their hugely successful US bike ride in 2011 Thunder members Danny Bowes and Ben Matthews, together with Luke Morley (Thunder and The Union) and Peter Shoulder (The Union) will return to the USA in July, with a load of fellow bikers for the second USA charity motorcycle ride -The Great British Invasion. Proceeds will go Childline Rocks, part of Childline and the NSPCC.
Thunder and The Union will probably play some acoustic performances for fun along the way, but they won't do a headline show as they did in 2011.

As times are hard and everyone is tightening their budgets, Thunder and Union fans will not be asked for donations to sponsor the ride this year, although you can donate to Childline at any time.
There are some places on the ride still available for those who can raise the funds, so if you have a bike licence and you fancy spending a week on a Harley Davidson, riding through some of the most spectacular scenery in the world, and having a sing song around the camp fire every now and then with the guys, that is possible. So if you're interested in what we've told is "the ride of a lifetime," just click this link, read the blurb, get excited, then email the organisers.
ChildLine Rocks is an independent committee originally set up to raise money for ChildLine –a service within the NSPCC - through live music. The first ChildLine Rocks event was held at London's indigO2 in March 2008; the line-up included Roger Daltrey, Lulu, Marillion, Thunder, Ian Paice (Deep Purple) and The Zombies. The event, which was compered by legendary DJ, "Whispering" Bob Harris, raised over 100,000, which paid for 40 new volunteer ChildLine counsellors. The CLR committee is chaired by Malcolm Bluemel, the owner of Planet Rock Radio and includes Classic Rock and Yamaha amongst others.
ChildLine is the UK's free, confidential 24-hour helpline for children and young people. Trained volunteer counsellors comfort, advise and protect children and young people who may feel they have nowhere else to turn. Almost 1300 volunteers provide a counselling service, supervised by a team of professional supervisors and managers. Every day ChildLine counsellors answer around 2,500 calls from children and young people looking for comfort, advice and protection.
