Cooking Vinyl's recently launched rock imprint Double Cross are delighted to announce the signing of UK Ragga Metal band Skindred to a new worldwide record deal.

With media already predicting 2013 as the year of heavy rock, the band are currently camped in a Bristol rehearsal studio, writing and recording in preparation for a new album. The new material will be produced by James 'Le Rock' Loughrey (Page & Plant, Flux Pavilion) who worked on the band¹s 2011 album ‘Union Black'.

Benji Webbe from Skindred says on signing: "We are more than buzzed to be joining forces with Cooking Vinyl to release our 5th full length studio album! This is a worldwide deal so we are looking forward to getting the record out everywhere and to tour the World in support of it. Cooking Vinyl have an amazing roster and we are very proud to be a part of it. Looking to the future and the big tings what ah come!!!!"

Described by Radio 1's Daniel P Carter as "one of the best live acts Britain has ever produced", Skindred are a genuine worldwide phenomenon, uniquely blending elements of punk, rock, Metal, reggae and electronic music. In 2011 they won Kerrang's much-respected Devotion award, while last year the band picked up Metal Hammer's coveted Golden God for Best Live Act.

2012 also saw Skindred play to audiences across the world, with a string of high profile festival slots - including Download, Exit and Rock A Parque - along with sold-tours at venues such as London's Brixton Academy. The band has sold more than half a million records worldwide during their career to date.

DoubleCross intend to build on this significant international profile, coordinating a dynamic global campaign for the new album set for release in 2013.

Celebrating the signing, DoubleCross general manager, Phil Hopwood said: "Skindred are a genuinely unique band. They sound like no one else, and it's really exciting to be working with them. We feel there is huge potential for Skindred internationally whilst continuing to develop their UK profile further too."

Skindred's manager, Seven Webster from 7PM Management, added: "I love what Cooking Vinyl have done with acts like The Prodigy and Marylyn Manson globally so I am really pleased to be working with this tour de force to help take Skindred to the next level."

Here's a fabulous Aerosmith pictorial document as seen through the lens of famed British photographer Tony Mottram. Tony photographed the band over many years for various magazines and now has a monthly column here on MetalTalk.

As was often the case, only one photo ever got published and in the fast moving world of weekly magazines sometimes entire sessions would be done and left undeveloped.

Tony started shooting Aerosmith from towards the end of the period with Jimmy Crespo and Rick Dufay and onwards through the return of original members Joe Perry and Brad Whitford that resulted in the albums 'Done With Mirrors', 'Permanent Vacation' and 'Pump'.

As well as shooting the band several times in England, this collection includes images from a session at the band's rehearsal room in Boston. Littered throughout is a mixture of live and off stage photos including a selection of photos taken at London's famous Marquee club when they were joined on stage by Jimmy Page.
