Keyboardist Randy Gane of Geoff Tate's Queensryche is recovering after suffering a heart attack on Boxing Day.

Geoff broke the news to fans on his official Facebook page, saying: "Please send your prayers and positive thoughts to my good friend and keyboard player; Randy Gane who is currently recovering from suffering a heart attack last night – GT."

After a lengthy legal battle, plenty of mud slinging and one of the messiest rock divorces in history, there are now two versions of Queensryche in existence. The Geoff Tate line-up includes Rudy Sarzo (Ozzy Osbourne, Quiet Riot), Bobby Blotzer (Ratt), former Queensryche guitarist Kelly Gray and Gane, who played in both Candlebox and Geoff's prog Metal band Myth.

This line-up is a slight departure from the original band which included former Megadeth and King Diamond guitarist Glen Drover but Drover has now announced his exit.

Geoff Tate's Queensryche are scheduled to embark on a tour celebrating the 25th anniversary of the band's 'Operation: Mindcrime' album in April. See the current list of tour dates below.

Glenn Drover said in his exit statement: "I am really sorry to say that I have decided to bow out of Geoff Tate's Queensryche. I was very excited about doing this gig initially, but learned in the past week or so that it's in my best interest not to do this right now.

"I feel really bad for those who were excited about the idea, and to Geoff himself, who, I have to say, was very nice to me on my past trip to Seattle. I, of course, am very disappointed for arriving at this point, and making this decision, to say the least. I sincerely wish the Geoff and the band all the luck on what they do in the future."

At present, Geoff is promoting his 'Kings & Thieves' solo album. Click here for MetalTalk's recent interview with Geoff.
