TREMONTI UK TOUR COMMENCES THIS WEEK, NEW SINGLE 'SO YOU'RE AFRAID OUT SOON 9th October 2012
Alter Bridge/Creed guitarist and songwriter Mark Tremonti is about to embark on a UK tour with his band Tremonti in support of 'All I Was', his long awaited debut solo album.
It has just been announced that Wolfgang Van Halen will play bass on these dates, joining Tremonti's regular sidemen Eric Friedman (rhythm guitar) and Garrett Whitlock (drums). Always in consideration to perform in the band, he was ultimately unavailable for the album recording sessions, but jumped at the chance to join the tour.
"I am excited to be joining the band and playing this incredible music with some of my best friends in the business," states Wolfgang.

Released in July on Tremonti's own FRET12 label, the acclaimed 'All I Was' has not only returned him to his metal roots, but also seen him emerge as a lead vocalist for the very first time. Produced by long time friend and collaborator Michael 'Elvis' Baskette (Alter Bridge, Trivium, Shadows Fall, Incubus), the album thrashes with a fierce intensity that is both heavy and instantly infectious.
"From day one in Creed, I'd pull out Metal riffs and the guys would remind me that we weren't Slayer," says Tremonti, laughing. "Over the years, our sound got heavier. Then, Alter Bridge became even heavier than Creed. That's my foundation. It's a style that I'm really comfortable with. Now, there are no holds barred. I figured the solo album was my opportunity to get that part of myself out there without losing the sense of melody I've worked so hard to achieve."
While Alter Bridge frontman Myles Kennedy was on the road with Slash in early 2011, Tremonti hunkered down in his home studio and began assembling what would become 'All I Was'. Rehearsing with Friedman and Whitlock, the shredder came into his own as a vocalist. Although he had always sung melodies in both of his other bands, this was a whole new challenge. "When you're singing backup, you can't really let loose and put too much character into the vocal line," he reveals. "I spent a lot of time practicing with the guys and rehearsing, and I finally developed the confidence to go in and do this."
The Grammy Award-winning guitarist and songwriter Mark Tremonti is known worldwide for his work in multi-platinum rock juggernaut Creed and the acclaimed Alter Bridge. Having sold over 40 million records, his sound is immediately recognisable and has won him a loyal fan base. Ranked as the fourth greatest heavy metal guitarist ever in the UK publication Total Guitar, he also won the 'Guitarist of the Year' category three consecutive years in a row in Guitar World magazine.
