27th November 2010
A Motorhead fan has been beaten to death after his friend had his hair set on fire at Thursday night's gig in Leeds.
Andrew Crawford, 44, was situated near the stage at the Leeds O2 Academy with his cousin and the friend who went home after the thugs set his hair alight.
Builders' merchants manager Andrew and his cousin later spotted the two men they believed had carried out this horrific act.
Andrew was punched repeatedly and was taken to Leeds General Infirmary but died of his injuries at 2am yesterday.
His cousin was also injured, but not seriously and is helping police piece together events at and after the concert.
West Yorkshire Police's Homicide and Major Inquiry Team are trying to trace the two men and Detective Superintendent Paul Taylor who is leading the inquiry, said:
"I am convinced that members of the public will have vital information. I would urge those people to come forward.
"Mr Crawford was a father of one with a partner. Our inquiries lead us to believe he was an honest, upstanding member of our community."
