A steaming Whisky A Go-Go experienced one of the best Ultimate Jam Nights of it's history as Mikkey Dee and Don Dokken brought the house down with a stirring mini-set of Scorpions, Dokken and Motörhead numbers.

On UJN's second anniversary celebration, Motörhead drummer Mikkey, now permanent member of The Scorpions, took to the stage after several rousing performances and blew the Whisky apart with renditions of Motörhead's 'Ace of Spades' and 'Overkill', The Scorps' 'Rock You Like A Hurricane' and classic Dokken number 'The Hunter'.

Marq Torien of Bulletboys introduced the two very special guests and expertly fronted the two Motörhead classics with Don Dokken putting in a quality display on the other two numbers.

Don was resplendent and on top form and Mikkey showed just why Lemmy would often refer to him as "the best drummer in the world".

A highly appreciative crowd almost tore the roof off The Whisky as Mikkey took the mic and addressed the audience who earlier in the evening had been treated to an ultra majestic performance of three superb Journey classics with Neal Schon's son, Miles, showing that the musical genes have most definitely been handed down with a performance that Dad would have been extremely proud of.

Joe Retta also showed that if Arnel Pineda ever decides to vacate the Journey frontman position, there is a ready made replacement ready to take over right away, right here in Los Angeles.

Other standout performances of the night included Debbie Holliday pulling off a stunning version of Led Zep's 'Rock N' Roll'. This lady is nothing less than totally outstanding and she epitomises soulful rock like nobody else on the scene right now. Somebody better create a space at the top because that is exacty where Debbie is heading and deserves to be.

We've been at NAMM since Tuesday's mega blast at UJN but we're back in town for what will be Grunge night at UJN next Tuesday. More fun and games to follow from what is sure to be yet another staggeringly good night at the Whisky.
