Cellar Darling's UK debut was a resounding success, despite an early billing on a midweek night in front of a partisan crowd who were here, in the main, to see headline act Delain.

Anna Murphy, Ivo Henzi and Merlin Sutter took up the challenge and easily won over a Koko audience who, due to organisational deficiencies, were still filing in to the venue long after the leading lady had untangled her hair from her hurdy-gurdy during the introduction to opener 'Black Moon'.

It was always going to take more than a very minor mishap such as this to derail this superb group, now riding high on the success of this year's debut album, 'This Is The Sound', an apt title for a tremendous performance that resonated loud and clear.

With only half an hour to get their message across, Anna and her comrades wasted no time at all in powering through a blistering display of memorable songs that speak volumes and bristle with fire and life.

It's been a staggering first year for Cellar Darling who, in the face of trial and adversity, have not only created a truly outstanding album, backed by the world's top Metal label, Nuclear Blast, but have taken it to the masses throughout Europe on the back of the Delain tour and subsequently taken a mighty leap towards establishing themselves as a force to be reckoned with.

Expect a lot more from Cellar Darling because this really is the sound and it's going to get louder and louder.

Anna Murphy is special guest on Steve Göldby Talks Metal today, Wednesday 8th November, at 4.00pm UK Time. The conversation took place very shortly after Cellar Darling had finished their performance at the Koko.

You can hear the conversation live on TotalRock here, then here on our On Demand page from 6.00pm.

Anna was also special guest on the show just after the release of 'This Is The Sound' and gave a track-by-track lowdown of the album. If you missed it first time round, you can listen again right here:
