Blind Guardian produced their best UK performance for some years just before nightfall at Bloodstock on Friday evening, just after Chuck Billy had written a new testament on the main stage.

The German epicmeisters won over a packed out main arena with their tales of hobbits, dwarves and men in their first UK festival appearance for eight years and that was never more evident than during 'The Bard's Song - In The Forest', the now traditional Guardian singalong moment.

The German Speed Metal originators packed their set with the very best of their epic Metal eras delighting the Derbyshire crowd who sent Hansi and his colleagues home with a smile.

Earlier in the day Testament, making their third appearance in England in less than a year, drew a sizeable following to Catton Hall and the influential Californians made the dark roots of Derbyshire shake.

Alex Skolnick was on fire tonight and he still is, and probably always be, the perfect foil for the mighty Chuck Billy who totally dominated the main stage. Testament produced one of the best works of their long career in last year's 'Brotherhood Of The Snake' album and the songs work superbly well with their classics.

Lionize were one the big highlights on the Sophie stage today and they most definitely gave second stage headliners Inquisition a run for their money.

The day was always going to belong to Amon Amarth and so it proved as the Vikings brought enough pyrotechnic to light up the whole county. You can see just how impressive Amon Amarth were right here. In the meantime, here's a few of the best shots from the latter part of Saturday, another incredibly good Heavy Metal time at Bloodstock 2017.
