Metallica were playing in my home country of Indonesia the following day, but when I heard that the Canadian Heavy Metal legends Anvil were playing as special guests of Metallica in Singapore the day before, I immediately treated myself to a flight over to witness the first ever Asian show from the band outside of Japan.
Anvil feature members Steve 'Lips' Kudlow on vocals and guitar, Robb Reiner on drums and new boy Sal Italiano on bass. The show took place outdoors at the Chang Exhibition Centre which lays direct next to the coast which meant a nice cool breeze was flowing in.
Opened by a local band call The Sacrilege, Anvil went on stage to a welcoming rapturous applause and kicked off right around 19:00. Starting with the instrumental 'March Of The Crabs' which led into the devilish '666.' A storming set which included 'Winged Assassins' and new songs 'Badass Rock n' Roll' and 'Hope In Hell'.

Anvil performed for about 45 minutes and kicked the Singapore crowd's ass. A humorous scene is made when the Lips performed solo guitar with a dildo doing the monsterous 'Mothra'.
Yeah, Anvil won the hearts of the audience; they are very interactive with the crowd.
Anvil makes the crowd smile while waiting for the Metallica performance and seemed happy with the Singapore crowd and left the stage with big beaming smiles. Anvil supporting Metallica... This is the true Metal On Metal.
