Hailing from Dundee, Excellent Cadavar have one of the most scarily sounding names on tonight's bill and have great heavy tunes to match it. Kicking off their 45 minute long set with 'My Own Addiction', it's a solid start with vocalist Andrew Downie shouting his way through the song whilst Drew Cochrane does quite a good turn on the guitar.
Some military style drumming from Ryan Shepherd starts off 'We Are Reborn' before the brutal (for use of a better phrase!) main riff slams you right in the face. A bit of head banging in unison from Cochrane and bass player Lee Cook helps gets the audience down the front finally moving and from this point on its full steam ahead for the quintet.

'Faith Destroyed' is just a simple "balls to the wall" Metal tune which elicits a warm reception from the crowd helped in part by Downie doing his best to encourage a bit of audience interaction and also kudos to Paul Hudson for playing a great solo. This is the first time that I've seen Excellent Cadaver, but there's no doubt that I will be making the effort to see this band live again in the future.

Groove Metal merchants, Mad Hatter 2.0 are a personal favourite of Les-Fest founder and organizer Dave Ritchie, and as such he was absolutely delighted to welcome them on stage this year – especially as they were asked to play the original festival last year but were unable to so, but jumped the chance to play this year.
With all the tracks performed tonight taken from the recently released album 'Deconstruct', the band draw a sizable crowd and their frantic set gets off to a good start with 'Kiss The Curb'. 'Stomp' sees vocalist Marc using every opportunity to encourage the crowd to get involved as opposed to standing like shop window mannequins.
To be fair to him this tactic actually works really well for as soon as he has the audience's full attention they bow down to every shouty command. The photographers in the photo pit scatter as he positions himself dead centre in the pit, shouting the lyrics across the arena – a truly commanding presence.
Marc's skills as a front man should not be underestimated and with the audience warming to him, he decides to press the flesh by taking an impromptu walk into the crowd during 'Forfeit Your Life', much to their delight.
'The Cyst' continues the band's aural assault in front of an increasingly unruly crowd, as Marc continues to lap up the attention whilst bass player Hayden headbangs his way through the set in between managing to throw in some Metal poses much to the audiences delight.
'You Sold Me A Lie' brings a close to their set and the arena quickly empties as the audience make their way to the bar outside in the sunshine where the talk centres around the band and their performance. You know you're onto a winner when you get this type of reaction after a relatively short performance, so let's hope that the band don't leave it too long until they return to central Scotland.

Screaming and shouting their way into your consciousness are Glaswegian thrash Metal band Diementia with Paul Kelly's killer vocals (when he’s not drinking from a Welly Boot onstage) combined with the twin guitar assault of Scott Watson and Jason Hinde making this one of the more extreme bands on the bill and one who are definitely worth checking out.
This is a band who know how to perform and they pull off a forty minute set filled with classic thrash metal tunes like 'Thoughts Of Revenge' with its solid guitar riffs and classic death Metal drumming courtesy of Ricky Kerr which sits well next to 'Ravaged By Fire' which starts off calmly enough before the main guitar riffs kick in, taking the track off into completely different sonic territory.
'Annihilation' is another strong track that has Kelly stalking the stage thoroughly enjoying his moment in the spotlight.
Having never seen the band live before but certainly having heard about them, I was curious to see how they would perform, and I'm more than happy to report that they play solid numbers with technical ability backed up with some serious attitude – well worth catching if they're playing near you.
