TONY MOTTRAM'S SHOT OF THE MONTH
THEM GOOD OLD DAYS OF SEXIST METAL?
Recently going through my print files these WASP 10x8's came to light.
The shots with The WASP woman was for a SOUNDS magazine shoot and possible cover story.
When being discussed in the weekly editorial meeting one 'right on' photographer expressed consternation at the sexist nature of the image!?
So a very heated discussion ensued! The outcome was Geoff the editor used a colour version of this picture as a double page (A3) poster... with the article not to upset any staff members?
Miss Prudence the professional dancer (W.A.S.P Woman) who was hired to go on stage on the tour was known to perform with a large snake in her own performances and she also appeared as a naughty nurse with Wurzel of Motorhead at the Hammy Odeon when he was once in a wheelchair after a gaulstone operation.
The live shot of Blackie was taken at the Lyceum London and used in a few magazines at the time, this one in Kerrang as marked up by the design team.
Miss Prudence is now a friend on Facebook after all these years and she told me she was the girlfriend of another Sounds photographer at the time! He never said a word in that meeting!
