Toronto-based Metal trio, formed in 1981 after originally being called Lips.
Current line-up features Robb Reiner - drums, Steve 'Lips' Kudlow - lead vocals/guitar and Glenn Five - bass/backing vocals.
Their career has been beset with poor promotion, a loyal fan-base and the requisite sense of humour, captured in the 2008 documentary film 'The Story Of Anvil'.
Their most successful release was the 1987 album 'Strength Of Steel' although many fans veer towards their opening trio of albums, including the debut 'Hard N Heavy'.
Following the release of their critically acclaimed new album 'A Sudden Impulse' last month, Stampede are set to play a one-off show with revered Canadian Heavy Metal legends Anvil at London's Islington Academy on Monday 11th July.
The band are delighted and thrilled to be joining Anvil on the bill. Vocalist Reuben Archer comments: "Anvil are a band we have admired greatly over the years for their determination and drive, and loyalty to their fans. We're really excited and honored to have the opportunity to support them on this show".
One of the most respected hard rock acts during the early eighties, Stampede were often compared to earthy British bands such as UFO and Humble Pie. Signed to Polydor Records, the band released two albums: a Live Bootleg recorded at Reading and Mildenhall Festivals in 1982, and the cult classic 'Hurricane Town' in 1983. Their long-awaited follow-up album 'A Sudden Impulse' was released May 9th 2011 by Rock Candy Records.
