Cage The Gods, a sensational new British rock band that fuse together rock 'n roll culture from the four corners of the UK in a thunderously soaring blues-inspired fashion, laced with typically powerful Celtic fuelled rock vocals all of which creates something powerful, something unerringly familiar but yet instantly gripping... and some.
Irish vocalist Peter Comerford and Scottish guitarist Jam formed the band in the summer of 2012 as a means to record material they had already begun writing. Before long, the pair crossed paths with 21 year old prodigious English drumming upstart 'NJ' who had just returned from a year of session work with LA's bravest and finest. The line up was complete when 6'7" Welsh bassist Mitch Witham saw an ad for a band in the local rag and duly applied, auditioned for and got the gig!
Everything about Cage The Gods is self-driven with the impetuosity of youth, hunger and desire. They see no obstacles and refuse to consider anything negative. They are of the moment; an entrepreneurial new generation self empowered rock act.
After forming in early 2012 they spent most of that year writing, producing, recording and mixing their debut album titled 'Favourite Sin' due for release at the end of 2013. Not content with just making a great record they then mastered it, designed the sleeve, manufactured a limited edition fan version and proceeded to set about procuring management and live agents without a second thought. Spin forward less than eight weeks into 2013 and they have secured all the above and more with international management, major promoters and live booking agents all in tow.
Their self released debut four-track EP 'Bruce Willis (My Time Is Now)' will be released in late June 2013 along with the prerequisite video which they will of course storyboard themselves. Says lead singer, Peter Comerford: "We had demoed the music and were looking for some lyrical inspiration. We decided to sync the track with explosion videos on YouTube... turns out Bruce Willis features in a lot of them so that became our working title... and it stuck!"
Having recently supported Heaven's Basement on their recent UK shows they have just been confirmed as the main support for the forthcoming UK summer Tracer tour as well as a performance at the Camden Rocks June 1st festival extravaganza in London.
Cage The Gods are united by a mutual admiration for the great and timeless rock bands and they present themselves with a solid sense of modernity and relevance. Showcasing accomplished musicianship and well-crafted songs this young act share a common belief that above all else the songs and live performance should speak for themselves. They revel on stage and perform with an explosive high-energy that exudes a maturity and understanding of their craft well beyond their tender years.
On Friday 24th May you will get a taste of Cage The Gods before the big screen experience premier of 'Epitaph'.
