In February 2012 Rival Sons went into Honey Pye studios in Nashville, Tennessee for only 20 days to record their second album with Dave Cobb and Vance Powell, before heading to Europe on another tour with mostly sold-out shows.
The album 'Head Down' was released in September, gaining all-over positive reviews from renowned magazines such as Classic Rock Magazine and MetalTalk.net. This time the completely sold-out tour followed in September and October.
Rival Sons finished the year with the Classic Rock Awards as Best Breakthrough Band and winners of Best New Band in Planet Rock's user poll.
